COVID-19 drastically impacted the healthcare system, from the supply chain down to medical billing codes. As variants and multiple vaccines developed, new codes were needed to accurately track the virus and immunization programs. The American Medical Association (AMA) worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop 15 vaccine-specific codes, providing essential analytical advantages for vaccination and COVID-19 prevention efforts.

The new code set incorporates 405 editorial changes including 249 new codes, 63 deletions, and 93 revisions. As we’ve done every year for the past four years, Cotiviti is here to break down these changes in our upcoming webinar.
