Podcast: Enhancing interoperability for better risk and quality outcomes

While TEFCA and the 21st Century Cures Act have spurred progress in interoperability, health plans have struggled to exchange clinical data between healthcare IT systems for several years. What are concrete steps that plans can take to achieve success in their interoperability programs to improve critical initiatives such as HEDIS® reporting and risk adjustment?

Listen to the new RISE podcast featuring Katie Devlin, Cotiviti’s vice president of interoperability, as she discusses:

  • How interoperability supports risk adjustment and quality improvement programs
  • How plans can make best use of digital data for HEDIS reporting
  • How federal interoperability requirements have evolved
  • How plans can effectively find a Data Aggregator Validation (DAV) partner

“Interoperability is usually defined as exchanging clinical data, often for the purposes of continuity of care. But it really goes a little bit beyond that. It's exchanging clinical information, but to the right person in the right format, the right information in the right format and in the right workflow and at the right time. If you serve up data to a provider, for example, it doesn't mean anything unless it's put into context. So that's really interoperability—being able to exchange clinical information for specific purposes and use cases.”
